Episode 4 - Self Care

Description

In this episode, Robbie and Philippa discuss the fact that radical self-care is vital to HSPs, and not a luxury.

Our nervous systems are constantly processing information, which is why it's essential to find activities that help us relax, restore, and rejuvenate. As Robbie says, self-care is as important for HSPs as sleep.

During the episode, we talk about slowing down to be present and aware of our surroundings, prioritizing time for rest and digestion, and giving ourselves permission to take care of ourselves. We also discuss how the narrative that women must prioritize the care of others before themselves can be really harmful.

We highlight the importance of asking ourselves what we need, figuring out what feels good, and making a habit of checking in with ourselves throughout the day. Philippa gives us an update on her winter of cold-water swimming and what she learned about herself during the process.

We touch on the benefits of practices like yoga, breath work, and EFT (tapping) for reducing anxiety and recommend seeking out medical practitioners, healers, therapists, and coaches who understand high sensitivity.

Finally, we mention the significance of boundary setting and finding activities that bring us joy, whether that's in nature or through work or volunteering.

Remember to bring self-compassion into all of this as you try new things and find what works for your system. Give yourself permission to do what you need for you!

It’s possible. It’s doable. It’s worth it.
